Katherine is a London-based self-employed architectural stone carver/sculptor, letter cutter and mason who has worked consistently for the last 15 years in this field. Having developed a love and talent for art and especially 3-dimensional work from a young age, Katherine qualified with an Art Foundation certificate and then went on to train to work with stone on the world-renowned stone masonry, carving and letter cutting course at Weymouth College, Dorset, UK

Her particular talent and love of carving became evident at this point, when she was awarded overall college winner of a boss stone carving competition in her final year. She qualified with a Distinction in carving and credits in masonry and letter cutting in 1996/7.

She then honed her skills by working for 2 years as an apprentice carver at York Minster and was involved in the Millennium restoration project of the carving of the Great West Door. Her letter cutting skills led her to be chosen to produce a plaque commemorating the unveilling of the West Door carving by HRH the Duke of York.

Katherine spent four years in London working as an employee of several major stonework companies. She then became self employed and set up her own business Worthington Stone Carving in 2004. In this capacity she has worked on many major and minor restorations projects in the UK and Australia encompassing a wide range of architectural styles as a subcontractor. She has also completed several original commissions in her own right and is developing this side of the business. For example she has just finished modelling and carving portraiture heads for Westminster Abbey’s Chapter House.

Katherine has a passion for stonework and she prides herself in producing the highest quality work, using the traditional skills and tools, following in the footsteps of many centuries of master stonemasons and carvers. In 2007 she joined the Art Workers Guild. She has recently been chosen to be the stone carver / stone mason for St John's Church, Notting Hill, London.

Katherine has her own workshop in London with ample space and machinery to handle large stones. This has enabled her to carve a 2 metre high Lion and Unicorn to adorn the London Hippodrome, Leicester Square and also to carve the marble altar suite as part of the reordering of St Peter and St Pauls Church (winner of the Ecclesiastical Architects and Surveyors Presidents Award 2009 for new work in churches).

She tenders competitively and provides fixing services.
